Amazon (A2Z R&D)

I work at A2Z Research & Development, a company that produces some of the amazing digital projects that come out of Amazon like the Appstore and Cloud Drive.  There is so much energy at A2Z right now, and such a desire to change the world for the better by democratizing premium mobile experiences.  You shouldn’t need a six figure income to afford an awesome tablet experience.

I’m very happy to be surrounded by such driven, intelligent, and understated people. I learn something new every day.

Appstore SDK and TAM Teams

Building and growing these two teams is my job, and I love it. The SDK team has the mission of creating elegant, beautiful APIs and scalable services that let our amazing developer community bring rich and meaningful experiences to our shared customers.  The TAM team provides reference designs and best practices to help developers implement these APIs. Our first framework, the In-App Purchasing Framework, is in the hands of some great developers now and they’re doing some very cool things with it.  If you have subscribed to a magazine like Glamour or Wired on your Kindle Fire, have bought a Comic, or have bought an animal in Tap Zoo, then you’ve experienced the end result of our teams’ work.

Amazon Appstore for Kindle Fire

Prior to focusing solely on the SDK and Technical Account Management teams, I lead a team responsible for the Appstore experience on the Kindle Fire.  We completely re-designed the look-and-feel of the Appstore to provide a unified, consistent experience across the device.  If you use a Kindle Fire and buy or use an app, you’re enjoying the fruits of our labor!  Thank you!

Amazon Appstore Retail Website and Mobile Client

This was the project that brought me to Amazon.  We believed that there was a better way to build an Appstore, and we were right. We’ve changed things. Even if you haven’t yet used the Amazon Appstore, we like to feel that some of the changes to other Appstores over the past few years were inspired by our entrance into the market.  Better reviews, better recommendations, better customer service.  When companies compete, customers win!
